Indole-3-carbinol and DIM are as antagonists to estrogen, which make it useful in treating excess estrogen in both men and women. Estrogen excess is considered as a driver of breast, ovary and prostate cancer. Women taking birth control pills and women in pre-menopause or menopause usually suffer from a hormonal imbalance characterized by estrogen excess.

But excess estrogen is not strictly a feminine characteristic. In men also, as they get older, their testosterone levels decreases and an excess of estrogen installs. Studies show that lately (due to food quality, stress, pollution, etc...) in a lot of men of 54 years old much higher levels of estrogen were found than in women at menopause at 59 years old! Estrogen Dominance:

Estrogen dominance occurs when there is too much estrogen in the body and too little progesterone. This often happens as result of toxic levels of environmental pollutants being present in the body. Many of these pollutants, especially those from plastics and petrochemicals, have a similar molecular structure to human estrogen. So, in your body, these pollutants bond to estrogen receptor sites causing changes in the cells. The problem is that these pollutants are much, much stronger than human estrogen, and can cause dramatic changes in cell growth that can lead to cancers of the breast, uterus, ovaries, and other female cancers. Ironically, they may also play a role in the development of prostate cancer in men as well.

G1 phase is dominated by the synthesis of various enzymes which are strictly necessary for the next phase (phase S) including those enzymes required for DNA replication (modified DNA, "malignant"). This is crucial because the distinction between a healthy cell cancerous one is just the modification of DNA
